Volare on Tech.eu: Taking Insect Protein to Industrial Scale
Tech.eu, the European tech and startup news outlet, sat down with our CEO Jarna Hyvönen to discuss Volare’s approach to scaling insect protein production and building a competitive, industrial-scale business.

The article explores the technology and operational efficiency behind Volare 01, our first industrial-scale production facility in Pori, Finland. Designed to be operated by just four people per shift, the 10,000 m² facility runs entirely on electricity and uses an energy-efficient dry-processing method to produce high-quality protein ingredients.
"We have an industrial mindset. We want to build an industrial company, which means being sensible about spending money, focusing on operational efficiency, and delivering real value to customers,” Jarna says.
With €7.1 million in new funding supporting the ramp-up of Volare 01, our focus is already extending beyond Finland. Plans are underway for our next facility, designed to deliver approximately five times the protein production capacity.
As Jarna puts it: “Our next step is to replicate our model from Finland and bring more local, efficient protein production capacity to Europe and beyond.”
