Held alongside SuomiAreena, the opening event brought together customers, partners, investors, policymakers and industry stakeholders to celebrate the opening of Volare 01 and an important milestone for circular protein production in Europe. The facility was officially opened by Lauri Inna, Mayor of the City of Pori.

Volare 01 represents the transition from years of research, development and construction to industrial operations. As Volare's first commercial production facility, it demonstrates how food industry sidestreams can be transformed into high-quality protein and oil ingredients at scale through black soldier fly technology.

"Volare 01 is more than a milestone for our company. It is proof that a new generation of protein production is moving from vision and pilot projects to commercial-scale reality," says Jarna Hyvönen, CEO and Co-founder of Volare.

During the opening week, Volare also welcomed Sari Multala, Finland's Minister of Climate and the Environment, to the site to discuss the role of circular protein production in strengthening Europe's food security, competitiveness and resilience.

Commercial production at Volare 01 is expected to begin soon, with a significant share of the facility's future output already committed to customers.
